Ratchet is one of the four goblin towns of the Steamwheedle Cartel. It is located on the east coast of Northern Barrens, just south of Durotar and the Echo Isles.
Facts
0/1000 Exalted is required for Insane in the Membrane and 100 Exalted Reputations. Keeping the reputation is not required for credit for Insane in the Membrane, but is required for 100 Exalted Reputations.
Overview
After making it back to Neutral, Ratchet provides a few quests scattered around Kalimdor as well as a few pirates to grind. Many of the quests are Horde-only. The pirate grinding is relatively slow here and should only be used for spillover to push Gadgetzan rep over Exalted.

Hated – Neutral
To reach Neutral you can either grind pirates as discussed below, or use the repeatable cloth turn-in quest.
I recommend doing this turn-in second after Everlook due to the relatively lower number of quests granting reputation and the relative difficulty of pirate grinding here. My recommended sequence for cloth turn-ins is: Everlook, Ratchet, Booty Bay, Gadgetzan. Of course, this is subject to the availability of cloth on your realm.
Low-level players should avoid doing this quest below Unfriendly because at low levels the nearby Ratchet Bruisers have an aggro radius that includes the quest giver. In this case, turn in cloth for the other three towns first, which should bring you to Unfriendly with Ratchet, and then Ratchet last.
In addition, watch out for Lizzarik and his ogre bodyguard Jorb who patrol the road between Ratchet and The Crossroads.
The nearest place to purchase Crystal Vial for Alliance players is Cranston Fizzlespit at Northwatch Hold, Southern Barrens, and for Horde players is Kor’geld in Orgrimmar. Alliance players can also purchase Crystal Vial from Gnimo on the Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth and Horde players may use Drix Blackwrench on the Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. Cousin Slowhands on the Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak also sells Crystal Vial.

In addition to these quests, you can collect spillover reputation by doing quests for the other goblin towns, in addition to the quests which grant equal reputation with all four towns.
Durotar Quests
These two quests are available to both Alliance and Horde players. Alliance players should take care to avoid nearby Horde who duel outside the south gate of Orgrimmar. These two quests do not grant spillover reputation with the other goblin towns.
